Summertime Blues (a wee bit late) by Dana Atnip

My apologies for the lateness of my July post! Unfortunately, July has had me see a great deal of overtime at my job, which means less time for drawing. But here it is...now I can concentrate on an August theme, which will hopefully be posted before mid-September!
As soon as I saw the theme, this is the image that popped into my head for Summertime Blues. I remember eating red, white, and blue Bomb Pops (now called Rocket Pops...a bit more PC), and our tongues would turn blue after eating the blue part. Yum!

August Theme: Summer Magic

Hey Scribblers:

It's that time of year when grasshoppers, ants, katydids and crickets dance their dance or sing their song. Come one, come all to the ugly bug ball. If you are as old as I am, then you may remember Burl Ives' little ditty for the Disney flick, "Summer Magic". That movie inspired me as a child as I watched moth and firefly celebrate the night. So let's grab our tools and head outdoors and capture that last bit of Summer Magic before the September 1 deadline gets here.

Oh, and Scribblers, while you grab your gear and sharpen your pencils, don't forget to sign up for the SCBWI-Mi Illustrator Boot Camp-of-a-lifetime on Mackinac Island with Matt Faulkner. I'll see you there--with pen in hand!

Happy Scribbling!
