I scribbled this at the SCBWI-MI SHINE event in Lansing this month, on the event agenda... but the paper was green. So I blue-ized it on the computer. Magic!

July's Theme: "Those Summertime Blues"
Hi Scribblers!
Just got back from exhibiting at an "up north" art show and celebrating the ol' red, white, and blue's Fourth of July among the Manistee pine forest's azure skies along Lake Michigan's ultramarine waters. Hence, this month's theme--Those Summertime Blues.
Gimme your blues! Your vaca blues, your BBQing blues or your sunburn blues, in your blue-green or violet blue hues. Put on your Scribbler cap, grab a brush and capture those cerulean moments before they fade away. Deadline for this theme is July 31, 2011.
Stay cool!

Young at ART! by Holly McDuff
For the theme, "Young at Art," I wanted to do a fairytale picture. When I was younger and even now as an adult, I'll take fairytale books out of the library and look over the beautiful pictures and it makes me feel young again. What a better way to spend a long and hot summer day!

June's Theme: "Young at ART!"
Remember those lazy, hazy summer days? Remember rushing to the mailbox for that Summer Weekly Reader? OK, so maybe that fond memory is aging me. But do you remember curling up in the shade with icy lemonade and a good book (especially one with fabulous illustrations). I’m sure it is something that most of us did as kids during summer vacation. Put on your Scribbling hat and think about what keeps you “young at art”, then go do it and then draw it.
